Position Summary
The Express Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing high-volume, standard maintenance services quickly and accurately within a dedicated rapid-service lane. This role is crucial for maximizing service department throughput and ensuring high customer satisfaction through efficient and quality execution of routine tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Service & Maintenance
- Routine Service: Perform all standard express maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication, fluid top-offs, tire rotation, and battery testing.
- Multi-Point Inspection (MPI): Conduct thorough Multi-Point Vehicle Inspections on every vehicle to check belts, hoses, brakes, lights, fluid levels, and filters, accurately documenting all findings.
- Tire Service: Inspect tires for wear, pressure, and damage, and perform standard tire rotations and minor repairs as required.
- Filter Replacement: Replace air filters (engine and cabin) and fuel filters accurately and according to manufacturer specifications.
Efficiency & Workflow
- Speed & Accuracy: Execute all maintenance tasks efficiently, adhering strictly to allocated time standards (e.g., 30-minute oil change goal) without sacrificing quality or safety.
- Tool Management: Maintain an organized work area and ensure all tools, equipment, and service bays are kept clean, orderly, and ready for immediate use.
- Documentation: Complete all repair orders (ROs) and checklists accurately, recording fluid specifications, torque settings, and inspection findings using the dealership management system (DMS).
Quality & Safety
- Safety Compliance: Follow all OSHA and dealership safety procedures, including the proper use of lifts, jacks, and disposal of hazardous waste materials (oil, filters).
- Communication: Clearly communicate vehicle status, unexpected issues, and any required additional service findings to the Service Advisor immediately upon discovery.
- Continuing Education: Participate in all manufacturer and dealership training programs to stay current on new vehicle models and specific maintenance procedures.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent; enrollment in or completion of a vocational/technical training program in automotive technology is highly desirable.
- 1 year of experience performing basic automotive maintenance or as a lube technician.
- Valid Drivers License and a clean driving record.

- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of automotive systems (oil, cooling, braking) and the function of common maintenance components.
- Efficiency Focus: Ability to follow standardized procedures rapidly and precisely in a high-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Teamwork: Strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a dedicated service team environment.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to vehicle inspection and accurate completion of checklists.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with common service tools, diagnostic equipment, and vehicle lift operation.
