Key Responsibilities

Dent Repair & Restoration

  • PDR Execution: Execute highly skilled Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) techniques to remove dents, dings, and creases from vehicle panels without damaging the original factory paint finish.
  • Conventional Repair: Perform traditional bodywork repairs, including pulling, sanding, filling, and preparing panels that require subsequent painting due to significant damage or scratches.
  • Assessment & Estimation: Accurately inspect damaged vehicles, determine the most efficient repair method (PDR vs. conventional), and provide precise time and cost estimates for the repair work.
  • Tool & Equipment Management: Maintain all specialized PDR tools, lighting systems, and body repair equipment in excellent working condition.

Quality Control & Workflow

  • Finishing Standards: Ensure all repaired surfaces meet the highest standards of quality and uniformity before being passed to the paint shop or returned to the customer.
  • Work Order Documentation: Accurately document all time, labor hours, parts used, and repair methods on the repair order (RO) for billing and quality assurance purposes.
  • Safety: Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the Collision Center Manager, Painters, and Estimators to prioritize workflow, manage repair timelines, and ensure smooth vehicle hand-offs between repair stages.

Continuing Education

  • Skill Advancement: Stay current with the latest repair methods, materials, and vehicle construction techniques introduced by manufacturers, particularly aluminum and high-strength steel panel repair.
  • Certification Maintenance: Maintain any required industry certifications (e.g., I-CAR, ASE, specific OEM training).

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Certification from a recognized technical school or vocational program in collision repair or auto body technology is preferred.
  • 1 year of hands-on experience in automotive body repair.
  • Demonstrable proficiency and certification in Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) techniques is mandatory.
  • Experience working in a high-volume collision center or dealership environment.

  • PDR Mastery: Expert-level hand-eye coordination and manipulation skills required for successful PDR work.
  • Color and Texture Perception: Keen visual acuity to detect minor imperfections, assess paint matching needs, and ensure surface quality.
  • Detail Orientation: Intense focus on precise measurements and fine details to achieve an invisible repair finish.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple repair jobs concurrently and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Ability to diagnose and assess hidden damage beneath the surface of the panel.
